“I don’t understand why you are being so calm about all this.” Adena looked over at Hatter who shrugged.

“I’ve seen weirder.” He finished off the apple and let the core drop to the ground, then wiped his mouth with his sleeve. “Ambrose is it?”

“Yes.” Ambrose smiled and halfway bowed.

“Where are we?” Hatter had taken over the situation and Dean didn’t like it one bit.

“Hey, I’m the one asking the questions here!” He puffed out his chest and Hatter held his hands up to signify that he wouldn’t say anything more. Dean paused a moment to make sure that Hatter didn’t butt in again then looked over at Ambrose. “So where are we?”

“This is the OZ.” Ambrose replied with a stutter, trying not to provoke more irritability from the exhausted Dean.

“OZ?” Sam asked and Dean turned around to shoot him a cross glare for asking a question when he had not five seconds ago scolded Hatter for doing the exact same thing. “Sorry.”

“OZ, hmm?” Dean repeated the question and Adena couldn’t help but get a little tickled by what was happening.

“Outer Zone.” Ambrose noticed Hatter leaning against a tree for balance then looked at the rest of the company. “You all look very exhausted. Why don’t you come with me? I know a place where you can rest and get some answers to your questions.”

“Why should we trust you?” Adena asked and Dean looked over at her with a disgruntled face. “Sorry, Dean. Slip of the tongue.” He then looked over at Ambrose.

“And why should we trust you?” Dean repeated and this time Adena actually smiled to herself. She could tell she was going to like this guy.

“Well, you really don’t have much of a choice if you want to get back home.” Ambrose answered and Dean puffed out his chest again. “Besides, there is only one of me and four of you! What is there to be afraid of?”

“You know, he has a point.” Sam said and Dean just rolled his eyes at his brother. He then looked around at his group, two of which he had just met and neither of which he trusted to fight if it came down to it. But it still made sense that he and Sam could take on this guy. He seemed a few fries short of a happy meal anyway. Well, more like he was the few fries and the rest of the happy meal was missing.

“Alright, you’ve got a point.” Dean finally admitted. “Lead the way, Zipperhead.”
The company followed behind Ambrose through the forest, Adena sticking exceptionally close to Dean as they walked. “So, what’s your story?” She asked and Dean cocked an eyebrow.

“Believe me, you wouldn’t want to hear it.” He said as he looked straight ahead, keeping a close eye on Ambrose just in case this was a trap.

“Try me.” She replied and he casted her a side glance with a smile.

“What do you want to know?” Dean felt strangely comfortable talking with this girl, not to say that he trusted her or anything. Just comfortable.

“Well, you could start with how you are a Dean and not a Jensen.” Adena said with a smile.

“Ah, yea. I have a lot of aliases.” He said as he looked over at her and could tell that she wanted a bit more of an explanation. “See, my brother and I are well…” He trailed off while trying to think of the right words.

“Not your everyday tourists.” She filled in and he gave her a broad smile while nodding in agreement.

“You could put it that way.” Dean stared at her for a minute, admiring her brown eyes then looked away again. He couldn’t afford to get distracted right now.

“Okay, that explains you and Sam, but what about Hatter? Who is he to you?” Adena looked over at Hatter walking all lone wolf on the outside of the group and staring forlornly at the ground. Dean looked over at him too and snorted.

“Oh him, he is no one. Just some guy we found on the side of the road.” Dean looked back at her.

“And what about you? What is a beautiful young lady like you doing working at a beat up hotel like that?” Dean said with a devilish smile, letting himself get distracted a bit.

“Oh I am just working there for the summer. Trying to get a little money to leave.” Adena thought back to the hotel and wondered what had happened to it.

“Where are you wanting to go?” Dean was genuinely interested in this girl, she had spunk and he liked that.

“Anywhere.” She looked out at the two suns crossing each other in the sky before looking back at him. “I just need to get away from it all.” Dean kept eye contact with her for a few seconds, admiring her passion.

“Alright, everyone!” Ambrose turned around and gestured up towards a large castle. Dean and Adena looked up at it in awe before exchanging glances with each other. “Here we are!”

The castle was huge, full of twisting hallways and warped glass pillars. The party followed Ambrose up to the top chambers where they met a young lady standing outside on the balcony. “Ambrose, what have you done this time?”

“Sorry, DG. The machine is still messed up and it brought more visitors.” Ambrose answered and Dean didn’t like that they were classified as “more visitors”.

“It’s alright. Just try and get it fixed so we don’t have any more unexpected visitors.” DG said and Ambrose bowed in accordance before leaving. “So, what are your names?”

“I’m Aden-“ Adena was interrupted by Dean who threw his hand up over her mouth.

“Dean Winchester.” He said and Adena furrowed her brow at him as she tried to pull his hand away. “That’s my brother Sam and this spitfire is Adena.” He let go of her and she snorted at him crossly.

“I can introduce myself, you know!” Adena said as she stuck her tongue out at him. “Besides, you completely forgot about Hatter.” She pointed over to him as he looked up from the ground for the first time since they’d left the forest.

“None of you would happen to know a Doctor by chance?” DG asked and Dean just gave her a weird look while the others looked at each other in confusion.

“Doctor who?” Adena asked and DG smiled.

“He didn’t say. Just said that he goes by the Doctor.” DG answered, leaving everyone still in confusion. “Well, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure you are all very tired. Why don’t you stay for a while and rest. Ambrose is fixing the storm machine that connects the OZ with your world so it will be a while before it is up and functioning again. You might as well rest while you’re waiting.”

“Sounds good to me.” Adena said and Dean looked over at her, shaking his head in disagreement. “And what would you suggest?”

“Well…” He sputtered and then finally crossed his arms. “I just think we should be careful.”

“So you’ll stay?” DG asked and Dean nodded. “Good. I’ll have Raw take you to your rooms.” A large furry man came walking through and took Adena by the hand.

“Come with me.” He said while pulling her forwards gently down the hall. She casted a concerned look back at Dean who just smiled at her being in the awkward situation. They arrived at a row of rooms with large beds in them. Dean immediately threw him arms out and ran to a bed to embrace it.

“I love you, bed.” He said as his voice was muffled by the blankets that his face was buried in. Adena laughed at him before going into the room next door to climb into its large bed. She embraced her bed similarly before climbing under the blankets and drifting off to sleep.
I was challenged to write a fanfic for :iconfrequenttardisflyer: and needless to say I have become quite carried away with it. For anyone who is reading the Two Sleuths & Some Bloggers series, this is kinda like a prequel. It doesn't make sense now, but with the way I am working on these two stories, they will converge soon and it will make a lot more sense.

Anyway, the rights to the characters belong to their respective fandoms - Syfy Alice, Supernatural, Tin Man, & Doctor Who. Adena is the name :iconfrequenttardisflyer: picked for their character so no originality from me there.

Guys, I am so bad with grammatical errors sometimes so if you read my stuff and realize there is a mishap please comment on it and correct me nicely please. Thanks.
